POST LAUNCH UPDATE RELEASED!

NEW BROS!

The latest update to Broforce includes two new lightning wielding bros of Lambertian origin, the immortal Brolander and thunder god Broden, each with their own attacks and special moves.

TACTICAL OPS!

Tactical missions far behind enemy lines... with a single bro. Players can test their Broforce knowledge in these missions and maybe learn a couple tricks in the process.

SUPPLY DROPS!

All bros now have access to new tactical items like All-American Supply Drops™, alien pheromones to distract xenomorphs, and performance enhancing drugs for that extra little boost when the odds are against them.

Terror is strong and unyielding. So, then, must Broforce become stronger, better at kicking ass and the best at rubbing it in their faces.

Peel your eyes back for this months' update! We've got testosterone (and quite possibly steroid) fueled bro art, improvements to Cherry Broling, gestures behind enemy lines and a fixed bug list that the declaration of independence would be proud of! 
 

GROUNDWORK

Cherry Broling. We're trying some changes. The number of people who have disliked her design has been kind of overwhelming. So we want to make her more versatile, such that the people who hate her might hate her less, while keeping what is awesome about her intact. Basically we're adding the ability for her to shoot forward while holding still and crouching. Much like in the movie itself:

*Ash now displays in burning jungle levels (was mostly invisible for a while).
*Indie whip must make worms go owweeee.

TARGET ACQUIRED: New User-Generated Island Discovered on Remote Corner of the World Map

In a shocking development from the world of Broforce, a mysterious new User-Generated Island has been discovered just off the coast of the World Map. The planet's smartest scienticians have speculated that the newly discovered landmass is quietly being populated with the best, most patriotic user-created missions from Steam Workshop in time for the game's full launch later next year.

"The Free Lives team has been incredibly impressed with the creativity and craftsmanship in the custom levels created by the community over the past few months," said Free Lives' Artist Jarred 'The Junt' Lunt. "There were suspicions that our own Broforce level designers were grossly incompetent and obsolete but this new initiative confirms it."

Through the powerful Level Editor and a newly launched bimonthly level design competition - the WEEKEND WORKSHOP BRODOWN (WWB) - talented level architects will be able to design custom Broforce missions based on a specific theme for a chance at free Devolver Digital games and to see their level immortalized in Broforce itself. TEAM BROFORCE - Live Action Fan Film!!

Forgehouse Films released an epic live action fan film called TEAM BROFORCE. If you haven't seen it yet, watch it now!

We were really hoping to have alien ready for you guys for this Dec update, but we are still knee deep in putting it together.

We're working on a whole new environment, with alien enemies and terrain, as well as a big boss for this installment of the game, and it's taking some time to get it all to the place we want it!

We've also had to contend with moving office/house, construction at both the old & new place, saying goodbye to a team member (animator Duncan Greenwood), and the usual perfectionism from our beloved artists (which means everything must be re-done at least 3X before it might be good enough).

Still, the progress we've made is pretty exciting. Have a look below at some of the ideas the artists have been experimenting with:

LEVEL SHARING!

Harnessing the power of the INTERNET, Broforce now brings you the opprtunity for infinate new levels to liberate! Combined with Level Editor, you can now create, publish and upload your levels, magically transporting them to bros' computers around the world - inflicting upon them great enjoyment...or great pain, depending on your desires.

RATE LEVELS!

Tell level creators what you think of their genuis and hard work, and have bros' vote on your levels as well, to bring the cream of the crop to the top.

MORE STUFF!

  • Sign posts (with words written on them)
  • Can tag doodads in the Level Editor
  • Brotality triggers, Entity triggers for when entities die

IMPROVED!

  • The custom menu looks less like pants (and it'll get even better still)
  • There will always be a bro that is spawned in the Level Editor (which is less confusing)
  • Paratrooping Mooks don't spawn on screen
  • Less z-fighting on trees and vehicles (though there is still more to do in this regard)

We redoubled our liberation efforts by adding in the speed liberation mode (Explosion Run). In this new mode you can race against your fellow bros, and chuckle as the oil-fueled flames consume them while you rest comfortably on your helicopter ladder 'seat'.Coincidentally we discovered oil pipelines in the Vietnamese jungle.And treacherous jungle sand.You can now use SpawnPoints in Campaign levels - to make starting points more flexible.You can force a specific bro in custom campaigns (first one to make a Brominator minigun challenge map gets a free high five).You can now make your own Explosion Run and Deathmatch maps. We'll make a better way of loading them than having to go to Custom Campaigns.Level editor will remember your last position when returning to Edit mode from Play mode.Fixed incorrect filename display.Big mooks don't invisible crouch.Rambro runs slightly more gallantly when crouching.Falling blocks are now disturbed by knife climbing (as is treacherous jungle sand).Trucks no longer grainy film out when they die.Evan managed to break everything, and then fix mostly everything in the nick of time.The Free Lives team played a lot of brilliant levels made by the handsome bros on the forum. We laughed, we high-fived, we died in a rain of bullets and landmines.

THE BOONDOCK BROS!

Strength: There are two of them.

Weakness: Twice the amount of bodies to catch bullets with.

Special Ability: Summon BRO DUCE! The Boondock Bros' terrifying, gun-weilding father.

Unique Tactic: Use your bro's death to fuel your fraternal rage and increase your fire power, then re-summon him.

No-one hates peasant villagers more than GR13. Or would, if GR13 felt emotion.

But he doesn't, because he's a zombiefied-super-soldier addicted to super-soldier-regenerating-serum.

Nevertheless, a peasant villager ear-necklace is always a bold statement, one that GR13 would be happy to make.

If he could feel happiness. Which he can't.
